- 1 lb bacon
- ¾ cup mayonnaise (I use olive oil kind)
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 1 head green leaf lettuce – rinsed, dried, torn
- 2 large tomatoes, chopped
- 2 cups seasoned croutons
Prepare bacon. Drain and crumble, set aside.
In blender or food processor, combine mayonnaise, milk, garlic powder, and black pepper. Blend until smooth. Season with salt.
Combine lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, and croutons in large salad bowl. Toss with dressing and serve immediately.

This was tasty. Why didn’t it get 5★’s? The hubby grilled the bacon I bought on one of the previous nights this week that he grilled. This (1) gave the bacon a different flavor from using a frying pan and (2) did not involve his trademark rub, which we’ve come to associate with bacon. Next time, we will used candied bacon. Also the original recipe calls for romaine, I’m not a big fan of that, so I opted for the green leaf. As a note for future reference, green leaf is a smaller head than romaine so double up. Our salad was swimming in the dressing! Lastly, I would use fresh cracked pepper instead of ground pepper.
With all that being out of the way…this was tasty! We used large vine ripe tomatoes, but sweet cherry tomatoes would be good too. To mix up the dressing, I used my handy dandy TW tool, and it made it thick and creamy (which I was not expecting!) The boys were so glad to have a salad for dinner, they especially liked that I just threw the bag of croutons on the table and left them add as many as they liked.
