Ham, Gruyère, and Shallot Pizza

  • 1 pound pizza dough, thawed if frozen
  • Cornmeal, for the pan
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 shallots, sliced into thin rings
  • 12 sprigs fresh thyme
  • Kosher salt and black pepper
  • ½ pound thinly sliced cooked ham
  • 2 ounces Gruyère, grated

Heat oven to 425°. Shape dough into 14-inch round and place on cornmeal-dusted rimmed baking sheet.

Brush dough with 1 tablespoon of oil and bake until puffed and golden, 15 to 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, in medium bowl, toss shallots and thyme with remaining tablespoon of oil and ¼ teaspoon each of salt and pepper.

Top partially cooked dough with ham, shallot mix, and Gruyère. Bake until crust is crisp and cheese melted, 12 to 15 minutes.

Makes 6 servings

This was the first time we bought pizza dough from the deli. The hubby was quite proud of himself as he bought wheat dough. I was certainly pleased with how easily it made the dinner go together. In the past we’ve used frozen bread dough. It says 6 servings, but 1 will not be enough! This was tasty and easy.
