I am an individual of many interests as I think most of us are in this word of multi-tasking. For the past 13 years I have been absorbed in the raising of my children, I am by no means finished with this task, but as they are now all in school all day long, I find that I have more time on my hands. For fulfillment I have immersed myself more fully in my photography and have made the jump into doing portraits. I love taking pictures, making a memento for others to cherish and share is wonderful.
Something that has always been a part of my life (beyond the photography, of course) is food. I did not learn to cook at my mother’s knee or do any preparing of family meals as a teenager. Beyond basics like cake and cookies, toasted cheese and macaroni, I rarely had a hand in making food as a kid. Once I got married and had son #1, I began with the basics. So inept was I that I had to call my mom to see how to prepare corn on the cob! I’ve come a long way and once we got past the first few years of the macaroni and hotdog budget, I started fixing anything that looked good to me. I have stacks of cookbooks and can say I’ve made most of the main dishes in all of them. I have had numerous subscriptions to cooking magazines and have also made most of the main dishes in those. In fact, I’m down to scouring the web for new dinner recipes, which provides an inexhaustible source of ideas.
In addition to blogging of my culinary attempts, I will likely chronicle are home improvement saga (an ongoing process that has at times dictated what we eat). After all, home and food go hand in hand!
