I am an individual of many interests as I think most of us are in this word of multi-tasking. For the past 21 years I have been absorbed in the raising of my children, I am by no means finished with this task, but as 2 have now graduated and the other 2 are highschoolers, I find that I have more time on my hands. For fulfillment I have immersed myself more fully in my photography. I love taking pictures, making a memento to cherish and share is wonderful.
Something that has always been a big part of my life is food. I did not learn to cook at my mother’s knee or do any preparing of family meals as a teenager. Beyond basics like cakes and cookies, toasted cheese and macaroni, I rarely had a hand in making food as a kid. Once married and with son #1 to feed, I began with the basics. So inept was I that I had to call my mom to see how to prepare corn on the cob! I’ve come a long way and once we got past the first few years of the macaroni and hotdog budget, I started fixing anything that looked good to me. I have had stacks of cookbooks and can say I’ve made most of the main dishes in all of them. I have also scoured numerous cooking magazines and have also made most of the main dishes in those. In fact, now I’m hunting the web for new dinner recipes, which provides an inexhaustible source of ideas.
In addition to blogging some of my culinary attempts, I will likely chronicle our home improvement saga (an ongoing process that has at times dictated what we eat). After all, home and food go hand in hand!
